About Dr. Gettings

During our lives we all come across opportunities to seek insightful and
informative feedback that may better shape our chosen course of direction.
Dr. Napatia Gettings understands that we are all a product of our collective
experiences, biological predispositions, and nurturing process.
Dr. Gettings was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. She was
reared in a home plagued with domestic violence and child abuse. Her
passion for holistic health and wellness is rooted in her own survival of past
trauma.
During her pursuit of higher education, she attended Whitney Young
High School, Dartmouth College, and in 2003 earned a Bachelor of Arts in
Biological Sciences from The University of Chicago. She then furthered her
education and obtained her Doctorate of Medicine from The University of
Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 2007.
During her medical school education, Dr. Gettings made the decision to
pursue professional training in the field of psychiatry with the goal of helping
others on their journey to mental wellness. Following her adult psychiatry
training she pursued a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the
University of Illinois Institute of Juvenile Research, which she completed in
2012.
Dr. Gettings’ mission as a medical doctor specializing in psychiatry is to
bring mental health awareness to the mainstream and dismantle the
misconceptions and stigma associated with it. Through preventative
medicine and integrated wellness education, she empowers individuals to
make the conscious decision to live their healthiest life. Dr. Gettings’ platform
includes domestic violence advocacy, mind-body medicine, and disease
prevention.
Dr. Gettings currently holds double board certifications in both adult
and child psychiatry. She is licensed to practice medicine in Illinois, Florida,
and California. She is the owner and medical director of Clarion Conscience
LLC, a private practice telehealth solutions company providing convenient
remote individualized medical services in the Miami, Los Angeles, and
Chicagoland area. Her clinical work has been featured in many publications
and media outlets including Black Doctor.org and Ebony Magazine.

In addition to her passion for teaching, speaking, writing, and practicing
medicine, she thoroughly enjoys motherhood. Dr. Gettings is the mother of
four. She is happily married into a blended family of six children. Her
appreciation for work-life balance affords her quality time with her family
when she is not serving others.
